Week 7 Blog Reviews

Jade:

I thought that your post on Tannen’s article was a great mix between humor and academics! I completely agree with what you said about her points being obvious but still really helpful. I think that I’m going to try to apply her perspective about man interactions and female interactions to my life from now on too. I totally agree with you post on Marriage, you did a wonderful job mixing your own feelings with relevant and powerful evidence from the article. I thought that you selected some really great points from the article to backup your idea! I liked that you had a positive outlook on the idea of marriage, it’s very refreshing!

Krista:

Your post “You Aren’t Listening” was organized really well. I especially liked how you summed up Tannen’s article into two major points and made then super clear by using “First” and “Second.” The example that you used to illustrate communication problems between men and women was a great one! I thought that you not only did a nice job of telling the story in an interesting way but supported it really well with ideas from the reading. Your second post “Working Through It” was also a great read. I totally agree with you when you wrote, “Awareness of the issue will allow people to be more insightful…” I liked the excerpts that you chose from the readings, they fit in nicely with your argument.

Monique:

In your post “He Said/She Said (You Will Listen)” I thought that you brought up a great example for the issue at hand. You told the story in an interesting way and kept me entertained. You did a really nice job of summarizing the main ideas in Tannen’s article, but I think that if you cited the pages that you pulled the information from it would strengthen your articles. In the post “Saving Monogamous Marriage” I really liked how you brought the classic fairytale ideal into the argument. You brought up an interesting point when you suggested that people get to know one another better before getting married. It’s definitely important to truly know the person you plan on spending the rest of your life with.
